Hiking the Zion Narrows
The age of Navajo Sandstone is somewhat controversial. Currently geologist believe it is at least 175 million years old, possibly 220 million years old. Although many rock types and layers exist in Zion National Park the Navajo Sandstone is the thickest and most dominant layer. The Zion Narrows, Angels Landing, the Subway, and almost all of Zion's major attractions are made of Navajo Sandstone.
